Lakidi Gateway

  1. Lakkidi Gateway: The story of being Haunted of this place is more than a century old, when the British ruled India. A British engineer, who took help from the Tribal leader named Karinthandan Moopan to find the shortest route which could connect Wayanad to Kozhikode. After finding the shortest route, the engineer killed Karinthandan to take all the credits of this route discovery. People believed that Karinthandan did not die, and his soul haunted the area which took many lives in road accidents between 1890 to 1900. Locals called the priest who chained the spirit of Karinthandan with the Banyan Tree and the tree is known as Changala Maram in Malayalam. The spookier part is that the chain grows along with the tree till date. Some trespassers claims hearing of shrieks and spooky screaming in night. PEEP the organization which works for the educational and economic development of Tribal people carry out a rally every year on second Sunday of March in his memory which is known as Karinthandan Smriti Yatra.Bonacaud Bungalow
  2. Bonacaud Bungalow: This is the story of Bungalow which is addressed at GB 25 somewhere in Bonacaud. Bonacaud is located somewhere in the region of Trivandrum, in British rule this place was widely famous for the finest quality of tea plantation which is now got the popularity of being haunted by the spirit of a child. Story says that the son of British owner died in mysterious circumstances and the couple shifted to London and never came back. People claims they saw the apparition of the child at the Bungalow’s Door, breaking of glass, screaming of the child and sometimes flickering of lights in the house. As per my research, forest department closed the entry of visitors in this area few years before as the haunted house of Bonacaud is located in the Agasthya mountain ranges.Sabarimala Temple
  3. Sabarimala Temple: It’s little debatable to say that Sabarimala Temple is haunted and our motive is not to hurt or play with anyone’s religion. It is said to be that the Lord Ayyappa defeated a powerful demonic spirit in Pulmedu at the day of Makar Sankranti. People believes that on every Makar Sankranti that demonic creature tries to enter this world and Lord Ayyappa defeats him due to which a flashlight in sky sparks and some belief is that the dwellers of forest lights to pass some signals but how true is that story, no one knows. Many people from various location comes to this temple to see the sparking of flashlight in the sky.

  4. Karyavattom Campus: The pond which is named after Hymavathi when she committed suicide in this pond. Hymavathi pond is widely famous among the peoples of Kerala not because it is located in the Karyavattom campus of Kerala University but being one of the most haunted places in Kerala. People claims that they saw the man doubled the height of common man wrapped in black blanket and suddenly disappears and the same story is also told by one of the employees of Technopark. Now, that pond is going to be completely change as Mr. Vishnu KP, chairman of the University research union and the student federation of India organized the event to exorcise the ghost of Hymavathi and got success in breaking the beliefs of people.
  5. The Weeping Ghost in Kollam: This is the story of Farzana, when she moved to stay in Kollam with her family. The day when she shifted into her new home in Kollam, she experienced the weeping noise of little girl child at night. When she tried to chase the weeping noise, the sound started shuffling from different rooms and when she reached in her room the sounds became the louder. She locked her room and get to the sleep, as soon as she laid down on the bed, knocking appeared on the door and at the same time loud thud voice happened at window. That incident scared her and she covered herself and went to sleep, when she told that incident to her mom, she was advised to lock her door daily to get the sleep quickly. After a year or two when Farzana was in her hostel, she received a phone call from her MOM telling her the same incident which Farzana experienced earlier. However, the spirit didn’t harm them and didn’t tried to establish communication with them.
  6. Ghost of Vaduthala Mathai: There is story behind this Haunted place. It is believed that once upon a time there was a notorious Rowdy named Vaduthala Mathai. Vaduthala Mathai once abused a women and the women complained about the situation with the king of Edaappally and the king sentenced him to death. Native people believes that the spirit of Vaduthala Mathai roams there and some fisherman make offerings to him before going to work. However, there is no harm encountered to the people yet.
